Cut a Contoured Hole through a Structural Element

Create a contoured cut that allows a structural element to pass through an intersecting element with a weld between the two elements.

To create a parametric cut through a steel element

1. Click Steel tab Parametric Cuts panel (Cut Through).
2. Select the intersecting steel elements.
   
3. Press <Enter>.
   
   The cut through is created at the intersection of the steel elements. The weld between the elements displays as a cross symbol.

   
4. Select the weld cross symbol to access its instance properties in the Properties palette.

You can click on the diamond symbol under the numbered label to change the element cut by the Cut Through tool.

Cut Through contours are only visible when the Detail Level of the view is set to Fine.
