About Reinforcement End Treatments

Learn about end treatments for rebar and rebar couplers.

End treatment for rebar represents the kind of connection type when couplers are attached. End treatments are represented as parameters:

You can add an end treatment to the end of a bar without the need for a rebar coupler; you can specify end treatments for any rebar in the project without connecting that bar by a rebar coupler. Select a rebar and change the End Treatment at Start or End Treatment at End parameters to any of the values defined in the project.

You can edit and reference end treatments for rebar. By default, two treatments are available: Welded and Threaded. Create other treatments through the duplication method in the Project Browser:
  1. In the project Browser, navigate to Families Structural Rebar End Treatments.
  2. Right-click any of the existing treatments and select Duplicate.
  3. Right-click the new treatment and rename it accordingly.
  4. Right-click the treatment and select Type Properties.
  5. Under Construction, enter a new End Treatment parameter name as needed.
You can also edit and reference end treatments for rebar coupler families:
  1. Open the coupler in the Family Editor.
  2. Click File tab Properties panel (Family Types).
  3. Under Construction, enter new End Treatment 1 (primary) and End Treatment 2 (secondary) parameters as needed.
  4. Click OK to update the family.
  5. Load the family into your project to update the coupler.
