Use the Repeating Detail Component tool to create and place multiple element instances in a model.

When you create a detail view, you can use detail component families to enhance model geometry. When detailing an element like a block wall or a wall with siding, you may need to use multiple instances of a detail component to represent the condition. In cases like this, consider using a repeating detail.
In this example, we want to add a siding detail component to the wall. Rather than place multiple instances of the siding detail component, make a repeating detail to represent the siding.
First, load the detail component family into the project, if it is not already loaded. Then click the Repeating Detail Component tool. Repeating details are system families, so they cannot be saved outside of the project. A repeating detail that is already in the project must be duplicated and altered to create a new repeating detail family. Select Edit Type from the Properties palette.
In the Type Properties dialog, click Duplicate to create a repeating detail, and give it a name. In the Parameters section, use the drop-down list to select the detail component to use in the repeating detail. The Layout parameter controls how the detail repeats. In this case, select Fill Available Space. This setting places the repeated elements a distance apart, which matches the size of the detail element, so only whole elements without overlap or extra spacing are placed. Other layout modes can be specified as required. Set the other Type parameters as required, and click OK.
Now, select 2 points to define a line for placing the repeating detail. The detail element selected for the repeating detail is automatically repeated along this line. The repeating detail can be aligned and locked to constrain its position in relation to the model geometry. Next, add a masking region to hide the siding layer of the model geometry. Finally, adjust the draw order to complete the detail.
