New Thin Client

The Vault Thin Client has been revamped for the 2022 release of Vault. With an entirely redesigned and modern interface, the 2022 Thin Client offers many new and improved features.

Modern Interface

The 2022 Thin Client streamlines several features and workflows to be more intuitive and efficient.

The improved interface makes finding and viewing your vaulted data quick and easy. You can navigate workspaces, change vaults, and open file previews in the Viewer with fewer clicks.

The Thin Client can be used in web browsers on desktop computers and tablet devices.

Dark Theme and Visual Accessibility

The 2022 Thin Client now features a dark theme. The visual design and color scheme have been updated to comply with Autodesk's accessibility guidelines, which adhere to rigorous industry standards. The color of user interface components, such as object states and menu icons, are better differentiated.

The Viewer

The Autodesk Forge Viewer is now directly integrated into the Thin Client interface. 2D and 3D previews of Inventor, AutoCAD, and other supported file types open directly in the browser when selected in the Thin Client.

Note: The Thin Client opens DWF, DWFx, and PDF file types. It cannot open native CAD files directly.

Workspaces

The 2022 Thin Client provides a new workspace for change orders. You can view properties, records, and attachments associated with individual change orders.

Workspaces have been redesigned to make recurring tasks simpler and quicker, including the following:

• Multi-select vault objects (files, items, and change orders) to view, share, and download in bulk.
• View information about objects with relationships to other objects (for example, in a file's details, you can view related objects in the Item and Change Order tabs).
• Preview a CAD file in the same browser tab using a file's View tab.

Quick Sharing

Share links from any workspace. Select the checkbox next to an object in a workspace to:

• Generate a link to the object, which you can copy and paste.
• Create an email that contains a link to the object.

The Thin Client supports multi-selecting objects to share multiple links at once. You and your team can open links in the 2022 Thin Client or the Vault Client desktop application.

Note: Links cannot be viewed outside of the Thin Client or the Vault Client. You must be connected to a Vault with valid credentials to open links.

Improved Navigation

Many refinements in the Thin Client user interface make the overall experience more efficient and intuitive.

You can use the following features to navigate and complete your tasks:

• Right click an object to open it in a new tab.
• Click the Vault Selector to view a list of available vaults and quickly sign into a different one.
• Create properties that link files and items.
• Scroll through tables with a fixed header that doesn’t scroll out of view.
• Easily identify the current user by their profile icon in the upper-right corner of the page.
• View and navigate related objects with project links.
