Use this dialog box to trim feature lines or other linework at a specified boundary, excluding what is inside the boundary or what is outside the boundary.
The illustrations below show the effects of trimming inside and outside the boundary:

Boundary
Specifies what to use as the boundary.
- Select Boundary
- Specifies an existing object as the boundary. Click Select to select a closed polyline for the boundary.
- Define Boundary
- Specifies points to define the boundary. Click Define to select at least three points for the boundary. The boundary cannot cross itself.
Objects to Trim
Specifies the objects to trim.
- Select Automatically
- Specifies that all objects within or crossing the boundary are trimmed.
- Select Manually
- Specifies that only selected objects are trimmed. Click Select to select the objects to trim.
- Filter Selected Objects
- Selects only objects that are on the specified layers. These filters are used for both automatic and manual selection.
- Filter On Layers
- Trims only objects on selected layers. Click Layers to select from the layers in the current drawing.
Trim Method
Sets rules for the trim operation.
- Trim Inside Boundary
- Specifies that all objects inside the specified boundary are trimmed.
- Trim Outside Boundary
- Specifies that all objects outside the specified boundary are trimmed.
- Retain Property Data Set
- Duplicates property set data on each piece of the trimmed object. If you clear this option, the data is removed completely.
- Delete Objects Inside/Outside Boundary
- If the Trim Inside Boundary option is selected, the selected objects completely inside the boundary will be deleted. If the Trim Outside Boundary option is selected, the selected objects completely outside the boundary will be deleted.
