To Import Survey Data from a Database Without a Read-only Restriction

Use the Import Civil 3D Survey Database command to import survey data from a database into an Autodesk Civil 3D drawing without a read-only restriction on the point data.

Note: Unlike survey databases, after transferring information to Autodesk Civil 3D through using SHP files, the survey information is contained within Autodesk Civil 3D drawings and has no link to the survey database. To share survey data between drawings, the line work and points must be copied between drawings or reimported into other drawings.

To import survey data from a database

  1. In the Toolspace, on the Survey tab, open the survey database that you want to import.
  2. In the Toolspace, on the Toolbox tab, expand SHP Import/Export Utilities SHP Import/Export. Double-click Import Civil 3D Survey Database.

The Import SHP Survey Database dialog box is displayed.

  3. Name the survey database import event. The event will appear in the SHP Data Manager dialog box.
  4. Optionally, specify a property set to add information to the feature lines as a property set and add information to it.
  5. Optionally, specify a translation file to convert styles and layers to the appropriate ones, and enter the translations using the file format described in Import SHP Survey Database Dialog Box.
  6. Click OK.
