New Subdiv Reform tool

Quickly generate complex subdivision models from mesh objects using the new Subdiv Reform tool. This tool automatically creates a subdivision object based on the shape of a scanned mesh or other triangulated mesh objects.

In previous versions of Alias, you need to build the subdivision model from scratch using the Subdiv Retopo tool.

Start by using the tool's default values, and then adjust the tool parameters to quickly regenerate the subdivision object until you've achieved the desired results. To finish the process, we've provided direct access to the Subdiv Retopology tool in the viewport. Clicking Edit in Retopo opens the tool with the mesh object automatically selected as the target mesh so you can begin refining the model right away.

Before using the Subdiv Reform tool to generate a subdivision model, investigate the source mesh for obvious irregularities in the topology, such as unwanted holes or non-uniform jagged boundary edges. Using the Alias Mesh tools to analyze and repair the mesh before using the Reform tool provides quicker and better results.
