To Work With Shading and Coloring Faces

Apply visual styles, or transparency, for 3D object faces.

Change 3D View Face Settings

Available face settings vary for different styles.

  1. Click View tabVisual Styles panel Find.
  2. Alternatively, you can click View tabPalettes panel drop-down Visual Styles.

  3. Select any visual style, other than 2D Wireframe, to change its settings.
  4. Change available settings for the selected style. Under Face Settings, set:
    • Face Style
    • Lighting Quality
    • Color
    • Monochrome Color
    • Opacity
    • Material Display

Make Faces in a Viewport Transparent

  1. Click View tab Visual Styles panel drop-down Visual Styles.
  2. From the Visual Styles drop-down list, select X-Ray.
  3. Set opacity by dragging the Opacity slider.
  4. Note: Toggle X-Ray view by clicking X-Ray Effect, next to the Opacity slider.
