Power Dimensions are dimensions created by AutoCAD Mechanical toolset's dimensioning commands. We designed these dimensioning tools specifically for manufacturing, making them relevant and convenient for use within this domain.
The AMPOWERDIM command automatically recognizes objects and defaults to the appropriate dimension type. You can use the same command to place linear, angular, radial, diameter, baseline, and chain dimensions. With the AMAUTODIM command, you can create multiple dimensions with minimal input, resulting in instant groups of appropriately spaced ordinate, parallel, or symmetrical dimensions.
Power Dimensioning commands force overlapping dimensions to automatically space themselves appropriately, integrating tolerance and fit list information into the drawing. In a layout or scale are, Power Dimensions automatically adjust their linear scale based on the points or geometry selected. The dimensions appear on the appropriate layers, as configured in Automatic Property Management.
You can accept or modify, the dimension text or the dimension geometry, using the in-place editor and contextual tab that appears when you create the dimension. You can also format the dimension text by picking a pre-defined format from a set of templates that are available on the contextual tab.
If you prefer to interact with a dialog box rather than use the ribbon contextual tab, set the AMPOWERDIMEDITOR system variable to 0.
