When you select the drafting standard (and the revision), the default settings for notes change to match that drafting standard.
You can customize these settings to suit your drafting requirements.
Because text and leader lines are the most common objects used for annotations, AutoCAD Mechanical toolset provides a single configuration point (the Standard Settings dialog box) enabling you to specify their default properties. These settings are the master settings.
In the Leader Note Settings dialog box, the text and leader settings default to “By NameOfCurrentDraftingStandard.” If you modify the master settings, note symbols automatically acquire the new settings. If you do not want note symbols to follow the master settings, you can override the text height and select a specific value.
AutoCAD Mechanical toolset notes automatically pick up information from the objects to which they are attached. As such, note text can be compiled as a formula that contains attributes of the object to which the note is attached. You can save such formula-based note text as templates, enabling intelligent notes that automatically describe the objects to which they are attached. For example, when you attach a note to a hole, the note recognizes the attached object as a hole and applies the most appropriate template — by default a template that shows the hole type and its diameter. If necessary, you can modify the templates supplied with the drafting standard or add your own.
