When you select the drafting standard (and the correct revision), the default settings for surface texture symbols change to match that drafting standard.
You can customize these settings to suit your drafting requirements.
Because text and leader lines are the most common objects used for annotations, AutoCAD Mechanical toolset provides a single configuration point (the Standard Settings dialog box) enabling you to specify their default properties. These settings are the master settings.
In the Surface Texture Settings dialog box, the text and leader settings default to “By NameOfCurrentDraftingStandard.” If you modify the master settings, surface texture symbols automatically acquire the new settings. If you do not want surface texture symbols to follow the master settings, you can override the text height and select a specific value.
You can also configure the options for symbol type, the appearance of the tail, and the appearance of the all around sign. When you insert a surface texture symbol into a drawing, these settings are the initial settings. You can change them. We recommend that you set these options to match the most frequently used settings to minimize the amount of customizing required when you insert a symbol.
