DKU 17 (Linux only)

DKU 17 contains the following improvements.

About UEFI Secure Boot and DKU Installation

Many new workstations are now shipping with UEFI Secure Boot enabled by default, which can cause issues post-installation. To avoid this issue, make sure to disable Secure Boot before installing the DKU. See Autodesk Flame Help Certified Hardware Setup documentation for more details about BIOS settings.

If You Plan on Using Older Flame Family Products

Important: If you are planning to use a pre-2022.2 Flame Family product on a workstation updated to DKU 17, read the following section. If not, you can safely ignore it.

With this new power management update, whenever you start a Flame Family product version 2023, the software automatically switches to the autodesk power management profile and the NVIDIA performance mode. It switches back to balanced power management and NVIDIA auto mode when you exit.

Previous versions of Flame Family products do not know of this, and cannot manage power profiles. Using the balanced power management and not enabling NVIDIA performance mode can impact performances.

If you plan on using previous versions of Flame Family products on a workstation updated to DKU 17, switch to the autodesk power management profile before starting your software.

To use a pre-2022.2 version of Flame Family products with optimal performance:

  1. In a shell, enter: tuned-adm profile autodesk
  2. In the shell, enter: nvidia-settings
  3. In the PowerMizer menu, select Prefer Maximum Performance.
  4. Quit NVIDIA settings.

To return to the balanced power profile for 2022.2 and 2023, and conserve power:

  1. In a shell, enter: tuned-adm profile balanced
  2. In the shell, enter: nvidia-settings
  3. In the PowerMizer menu, select Auto.
  4. Quit NVIDIA settings.
Note: This behaviour was introduced with DKU 16.2.
