Before or after a
derived route
is populated, you can edit the
base sketch
to accommodate new constrained sketch elements. Edits on the base sketch can automatically update the associated derived route.
Note: To save time for automatically responding to changes to base sketches, you can first defer automatic updates.
- Activate the derived route.
- On the ribbon, click Route tab Create panel Edit Base Sketch .
The base sketch is activated.
Tip: If automatic updates are enabled for the derived route, the base sketch displays as the populated route in the 3D Sketch environment. To prevent the solid segments from blocking your view and edits, use the Wireframe Display command on the View tab.
- To edit the geometry in the base sketch, you can:
- Include existing lines in the base sketch. You can also create new lines in the part file to include. Note that splines and 3D intersection curves cannot be selected into the derived route.
- Add 3D sketch constraints to the included line geometry.
- Change dimensions of the included line geometry.
- Delete the included line geometry.
- Make sure nothing is selected. Right-click and select Finish Edit to activate the derived route.
The derived route automatically updates if any selected geometry is changed. If violations occur, make appropriate changes.
Note: If you select Finish 3D Edit from the context menu, the part environment is activated. Right-click and select Finish Edit to activate the derived route.
- Right-click and select Finish Edit to activate the pipe run.
