To Create Construction Surfaces

Create a construction surface from an open or closed profile.

Create Construction Surface

Like the planar face of a solid model, you can use a construction surface as a sketch plane.

Note: Use the Thicken command to create a construction surface offsetting one or more surfaces.
  1. On the ribbon, click 3D Model tab Sketch panel Create 2D Sketch and select a face or work plane as the sketch plane.
  2. Use a command on the Sketch tab to create an open or closed profile to represent the shape.
  3. Create other geometry as required by the command used to create the surface (such as an axis or second profile for a loft).
  4. On the 3D Model tab, Create panel, click the Extrude, Revolve, Loft, or Sweep command.
  5. When a profile is detected, the Surface operation is automatically selected. Select other geometry as required by the command.
  6. If desired, enter more values to define the surface for the command (such as a taper angle and distance, revolution angle, or point mapping, if available).
  7. Click OK.

Create Opaque Surface

  1. Click File Options to access the Application Options dialog box.
  2. On the Part tab, in Construction, select Opaque Surfaces.

Change Appearance of Surface

  1. In the browser, right-click a surface, and click Translucent.
  2. To change a surface appearance, right-click a surface and click Properties. Change the Feature Appearance as appropriate.
