To Edit and Republish Tube and Pipe Library Parts in Content Center

When changes for library parts are needed, edit the part family table and republish changes from within the Content Center. In addition to general properties such as nominal diameters and materials, you can customize some properties that can only be modified from within the Content Center, such as the library file naming schema, stock number, part number, size designation, and so on.

Library edits may request login to the Autodesk Data Management server and edit permission. If you are working in a single user environment, you automatically have permissions to perform editing tasks within the Autodesk Data Management server on your local drive. If the Content Center is installed on a remote server, you must be assigned with edit permission to perform any of the editing tasks.

In this exercise, you practice the workflow which is based on a predefined library part. From within the Content Center, you customize the part family file naming convention, modify key columns, add new part members, and then republish the revised library part family. Changes do not take effect until the library part is republished.

1. Open any assembly file or part file.
2. On the ribbon, click Manage tab Content Center panel Editor .
3. Optionally, select the desired read/write library containing the part family to delete from the Target Library list.
4. Navigate to Tube & PipeFittingsCouplings.
5. On the Categories and Families pane, right-click ASME B16.11 Coupling - Class 3000, and select Family Table.
6. In the Family Table dialog box, do any of the following:
   • Click Column Properties and define a column property for the coupling part family table.
   • Click File Naming and customize the file naming convention for all part families in the category. In this exercise, use the expression of {PARTNUMBER} - {MATERIAL}.
   • Click Key Columns and add or modify the key columns for the coupling part family.

   In the table view, the highlighted cell indicates the revised fields while the lightning flag in the RowStatus column indicates the part members being revised. Notice the Apply command is available.

7. In the Filter list, select All Columns and modify the part properties as you need. In this exercise, set the MATERIAL column to a new material Bronze, Soft Tin for the part member 1 (Row 1).

   To quick edit the part family properties, click the Edit via Spreadsheet command and make appropriate changes.
8. Click Apply.
9. In the Publish Result dialog box, click OK.
10. Click OK to close the Family Table dialog box and return to the Categories and Families pane.
11. Optionally, open the part family again and verify changes.

Note: Once changes are published, all original library part instances are no longer referencing the Content Center Library. You must make appropriate edits to accommodate the new library part, such as redefining missing conduits and fittings used in tube and pipe styles.
