You can activate Ghosting on a clip to view the progression of a single animation clip. This lets you view the start and end positions of a
selected animation clips on a track and is useful when matching poses or blocking animation.
For example, this image shows an animation clip that has been split in two of an animated sphere. The second half of the clip has been moved further along the track, creating a gap between the clips:
Note: Because Ghosting is activated for only the second clip, only the second clip has a
icon next to the clip name.
In this example, clip Ghosting
is activated only for the second clip, the half that shows the second part of the animation. The ghost of the second clip's start position displays while the first clip is played.
Note: This procedure shows how to show ghosts for a selected
clip. If you want to see the ghost for an entire
track, see the procedure for
Viewing Track Ghosts in the Time Editor, above. Time Editor default ghost is a skeleton or the root object of the animation. If you would like to use something
other than the default as a ghost to previsualize your animation, see
Create a custom clip ghost.
To view the ghost for the selected clip
- Right-click the clip in the Time Editor.
- Select
in the
Time Editor clip contextual menu.. You can also select
from the
Time Editor menu bar.
A Ghost icon
appears on the clip, next to the clip's name.
The ghost is the same color as the corresponding clip. To customize the clip ghost colors, choose a new color in the Layer area of the clip information in the
Attribute Editor.
