Use the Paint Skin Weights tool to test skin binding

You can use the Paint Skin Weights tool to view the strength, or influence, of skin binding on a selected skeleton joint. This can help isolate potential problems where the skin is bound too much or too little to the skeleton.
  1. With a skinned mesh in the scene, open the Paint Skin Weights tool. (Skin > Paint Skin Weights Tool > in the Animation menu set.)
  2. In the Gradient section, turn on Use Color Ramp and choose a color preset to help you identify areas where the effect of the bind is the strongest and weakest.
  3. Select the mesh.

A gradient that depicts the influence of the bind shows on the mesh.

  4. Right-click each joint in the skeleton and choose Select Influence from the menu to show each joint's bind strength.
