Assets

Get Effects Asset
Opens the Content Browser with the Effects Assets tab selected. Effects Assets are Maya .ma files of preset fluid and nParticles effects that are organized as Maya assets. Effects Assets can be quickly imported into your scene, applied to objects, then played and rendered with little or no modification.
Apply Effect
Applies the effects asset to the selected object by parenting the asset to the object.
Collide with Effect
Converts the selected object to a passive collision object and assigns it the Nucleus solver in the asset. If the object is already associated with an other Nucleus solver, selecting. Collide with Effect re-assigns the object to the asset's Nucleus solver.

Create

Fire
Creates a preset fire effect from a particle object with Turbulence, Drag, and Gravity fields applied.

Select Effects > Fire > to set the Create Fire Options.

Fireworks
Creates a firework effect, which consists of a number of rockets that fly up, leave a trail as they fly, and burst. Gravity fields are also created for all particles. Initially, the effect randomly chooses colors and positions for rocket launches and bursts

Select Effects > Fireworks > to set the Create Fireworks Options.

Flow submenu
Lets you create an effects that emit particles along a curve or surface. For more information on this submenu options, see Create Flow submenu.
Lightning
Creates a bolt of lightning between two or more objects or locators. The lightning bolt is made up of soft body curves with extruded surfaces, which are rendered. The motion of the lightning is derived from an expression on the particles that make up the soft body curve

Select Effects > Lightning > to set the Lightning Options.

Shatter
Creates a shatter effect by duplicating an object and breaking the duplicate into multiple pieces called shards. Depending on the type of shard you choose to create, you can move the shards with dynamic forces or keyframe their movement.

Select Effects > Shatter > to set the Shatter Options.

Smoke
Creates a smoke effect that emits smoke from a position in the workspace or from a selected particle object or geometry object. The effect uses a series of smoke images (sprites) included with the Maya software. You can alternatively use your own images. You must hardware render the resulting smoke.

Select Effects > Smoke > to set the Smoke Options.
