Creating solid cut features

You can cut shapes into solids based on wireframe objects, for example to create holes, pockets or designs in a solid model.

To create holes and pockets in the plate:

  1. Click Home tab > Selection panel > All Wireframes to select all the remaining wireframe.
  2. Press and hold the Ctrl key and click the two composite curves, as shown below:

    The composite curves are deselected.

  3. Click Solid tab > Feature panel > Cut.

    The Solid Cut dialog is displayed:

  4. From the Type drop-down list, click Through.

    Preview graphics are drawn on the model:

  5. Click Apply.

  6. Press and hold the Ctrl key and click the composite curves as shown below:

  7. Click Add the currently selected sketch button.
  8. From the Type drop-down list, click Blind.
  9. Enter a Depth of 0.5.
  10. Click OK.

    Pockets have been cut into the solid:

  11. Click in an empty space in the graphics window to deselect the model.
