Using the stress analysis option, you can select stresses in the longitudinal and transverse sections of a selected structure bar. When you activate the option, the screen is divided into 4 parts: the Stress Analysis dialog, and 3 windows in which stress maps are presented (in the transverse section and 2 longitudinal sections XY and XZ).
The following tabs are available in the Stress Analysis dialog:
In the lower portion of the dialog, which is the same for all tabs, specify parameters in order to display the stress maps:
- 1.Specify the structure bar number and load case for which stress maps will be presented.
- Bar number - use this field to select the bar for which stress analysis in the transverse section will be performed.
- Load case - use this field to select the load case defined for the structure, for which stress analysis in the transverse section of the bar will be performed.
- Select the stress type (normal, tangential, reduced). The section force components included in calculations of this stress (FX, FY, FZ, MX, MY and MZ) will be selected automatically. Which of these options are active depends on a selected stress type.
- Internal force values specified for the selected bar will be entered in the appropriate fields (it is possible to change the internal force value).
- Cutting plane placement.
After you specify these parameters and click Apply, stress values of the chosen section will display in the dialog. Stress maps in 2 longitudinal and on transverse sections will be shown in the 3 windows located in the left part of the screen.
Note: If you selected a normal stress SIGMA X for presentation, the software displays the neutral axis (in the form of a dashed line) in the cross-section of a solid bar.
To activate the word processor in which the calculation note generated for the chosen bar will be presented, click Note.
If you change parameters (such as the load case or stress type) in the Stress Analysis dialog, click Apply to determine the stress values and their maps for the new parameters.
Menu options for Stress Analysis:
- Cutting Planes (select Edit menu > Cutting Planes) - allows you to graphically define the point cutting plane. The cutting plane coefficients will be automatically entered in the appropriate fields (values x=, y=, and z=). You can also access the option from the side toolbar in the Stress analysis layout: .
- Point Values (select Edit menu > Point Values) - allows you to graphically define coordinates of a point in which stress will be marked. When shifting between the transverse section and longitudinal sections windows, the settings on the Point tab change (the appropriate plane is chosen and the appropriate coefficients are entered). You can also access the option from the side toolbar in the Stress analysis layout: .
- View Attributes - allows you to define the stress map parameters (such as scale for individual views, colors, and axes). Use the Display dialog to define stress map presentation parameters. You can also access the option from the side toolbar in the Stress analysis layout: .
- 3D Projection - allows you to view a 3D presentation of a selected structure bar, accompanied by the presentation of an indicated stress type. An additional structure bar view displays, with an additional toolbar that allows you to move, rotate, or zoom the selected structure bar. You can also access the option from the side toolbar in the Stress analysis layout: .
