Define Construction Area in Areabook

Specify the boundaries to calculate construction floor area for use on the floor area tag.

  1. Click Quantification tab Areabook Extension panel (Add/Edit Floor Area) to open the Add/Edit Floor Area dialog.
  2. Click the Construction FA tab.
  3. Adjust the construction floor area information as defined in the table below.
  4. Click OK to update the floor area tag and close the dialog.

Calculate Construction Floor Area
Method of Calculation Specifies how the construction floor area calculates. Manual selection requires using the tools under the Add Construction Floor Area section to select drawing elements to generate area. Otherwise, select CFA=GFA-NRA to calculate the construction floor area as the difference of the selected gross area and net room area.
Note: Only one floor area type can use a formula calculation. The remaining two must use manual selection tools.
Add Construction Floor Area
Use View Specifies the view in which you will select drawing elements to generate area.
(Select Elements)

llows you to draw a pick box to select walls and columns within its boundary. Each wall and column becomes a subarea. Select Finish in the Option Bar to continue.

(Contour Detection) Detects closed contours from walls, lines, arcs, circles, or room separation lines. You only need to select one element which is part of a closed contour. Select Finish in the Option Bar to continue.
(Closed Contours) Allows you to manually select closed contours of lines, arcs, circles, or room separation lines. Select Finish in the Option Bar to continue.
Construction Floor Area
(Delete Rows) Deletes the selected subarea row.
(Highlight Selected) Opens the view to the selected area.
Level Displays the level of the subarea.
Name Displays the name of the subarea.
CFA The calculated construction floor area for the subarea.
Room Enclosure (DIN-Standard Only) Room enclosure sectors defined as either:
  • Regular case (R): covered and enclosed sector in full height on all sides.
  • Special case (S): all other sectors.
Comment User defined comments for the sub area.
Total The currently calculated gross floor area
(R) Sum of the calculated area for the regular case subareas.
(S) Sum of the calculated area for the special case subareas.
