Create an Alignment from InfraWorks Data

Civil Structures can be exported from InfraWorks to Revit using the Export Civil Structures workflow.

As part of the civil structure, alignment objects are also exported from a future version of InfraWorks. Alignments can represent road centerlines, pipe networks, and other construction baselines.

In Revit, Alignment Station Annotations can be added to a structure's alignment individually or as "sets" to match the design intent. Alignment Station Annotations can be used to communicate information such as Alignment Station position and elevation.

Create an Alignment from InfraWorks data

  1. In Revit, under the Add-Ins toolbar, select Import Civil Structures. The exported bridge model file can be found under Autodesk Civil Data in the Documents folder.
  2. Once the bridge model has been loaded in Revit, the Alignment can be displayed and labeled in both 2D and 3D views.
Note: Alignments cannot be updated independently of the bridge
Note: The alignment will e automatically sized relative to the extents of the structure.

Adding an Alignment Station Annotation

  1. To individually add annotations to an alignment station, click Alignment Station under the Annotate toolbar. Select any point on the alignment to set the annotation.
Note: Label parameters can be customized in the Properties panel.
  2. Multiple stations can be annotated by using Alignment Sets. To add an Alignment set, select Alignment Station Set under the Alignment Station button.
    • While using Alignment Sets, the distance between each station notation can be customized by editing the station interval in stationing units.
    • The annotation text position can be adjusted by changing the ‘tag offset’ value. The tag offset is measured in paper space.
    • Start and end stations can be specified to determine the range in which stations will be placed.

Adding an Alignment tag

  1. To create a specific Alignment Tag, click Tag by Category under the Annotate tab. If there is no tag loaded, you can choose to upload an existing tag.
  2. Click anywhere along the alignment to set the tag. Click the Alignment Tag to view and edit the family to customize the parameter values.
