Learn how to install and access the generative design capabilities in Revit.
Generative Design is automatically installed when you install Revit. There is no separate installation for Generative Design.
Generative Design updates are available through the Autodesk desktop app and as part of regular Revit updates.
The Autodesk desktop app is installed by default with Revit. It notifies you when an update is available. You can download and install an update directly from the app. To check for an update, click the app's icon in the system tray.
To be able to use Generative Design from the Manage tab in Revit, you need access to one of these subscriptions or plans:
This license can be requested by the ADN site administrator for your organization. On the ADN site, complete the Software and Web Services Request form, and select Generative Design in Revit.
If you don't have one of those, you can access similar functionality using Dynamo for Revit.
