A global parameter that is defined as a reporting parameter can be used to drive other parameters directly or through a formula.
Note that only one dimension can be labeled with the same reporting parameter. Reporting global parameters are read only and their values cannot be modified in the Global Parameters dialog.
- Access the Global Parameter Properties dialog using one of the following methods:
- Click Manage tabSettings panel (Global Parameters), and click
(New Global Parameter).
- Select a dimension, and on the Label Dimension panel of the ribbon, for Label, click
(Create Parameter).
- In the Global Parameter Properties dialog:
- For Name, enter a descriptive name for the parameter.
- Select Reporting Parameter.
- Click OK.
Note: If you are creating a reporting parameter from a Dimension, the Type of Parameter is either Length or Angle, depending on the type of dimension, and the Discipline is Common. If you are creating a reporting parameter through the Global Parameters tool directly, you can select the Discipline and Type of Parameter. (See
Create Global Parameters.)
You can convert a global parameter into a reporting parameter in two ways:
- If the global parameter is used as a Label for a dimension, select the dimension, and on the Properties palette, select Is Reporting.
- From the Global Parameters dialog, select the parameter, and click Edit Global Parameter. In the Global Parameter Properties dialog, select Reporting Parameter.
Note: If the global parameter was assigned to more than one dimension or was defined by an equation, you will not be able to convert it to a reporting parameter.
