Change Colors for a Point Cloud

While indexing a raw data point cloud file or inserting an indexed file, Revit determines the default color mode for the point cloud, depending on the color data in the source file. Use a Color Mode option to specify visual settings for a point cloud.

  1. Type VG, or click View tabGraphics panel (Visibility/Graphics).
  2. In the Visibility/Graphics Overrides dialog, click the Point Clouds tab.
  3. To change the color mode for an entire point cloud file:
    1. Click the button in the Color Mode column for that file.
    2. In the Point Cloud Color Mode dialog, for Color Mode, select one of the following:
      • RGB
      • <No Override>
      • Single Color
      • Elevation
      • Intensity
      • Normals
Note: To restore the default color mode for the selected point cloud, click the Clear Overrides button.
    3. If you selected Single Color, Elevation, or Intensity, use the buttons to select the desired colors under Settings.
    4. Click OK.
  4. To change the color for an individual scan location or scan region:
    1. Click the button in the Color Mode column for the location or region.
    2. In the dialog, for Color Mode, select Single Color.
    3. Under Settings, for Color, click the color and select the desired color from the chart.
    4. Click OK.
Note: You can specify different colors for a scan location and a scan region. If elements belong to both the location and the region, the location color is applied first; then the region color is applied to elements in the region, overriding the location color for those elements only.
  5. In the Visibility/Graphic Overrides dialog, click OK.
