Specify which users have access to files, folders, items, and custom objects, as well the level of their access by assigning members to the Access Control List (ACL).
How Security Works
Autodesk Vault uses a dual-gate security paradigm that combines object security with state security. Users must have role permission, and combined object and state-based permissions to access a Vault object.
With the dual-gate security system, Administrators can control individual access to a Vault object based on organizational area or business line without worrying about a state-based security being the override. For example, an administrator can make it so that a group has read, write, delete, and download permissions but certain members of the group do not have some permissions while in various lifecycle states.
Security Modes on Files, Folders, and Custom Objects
Legacy Security Still Available
Customers who prefer the legacy security model or who want to wait before adopting the new dual-gate security model, can still emulate the single-gate security model by using overrides in the lifecycle definition. Select Override object-based security in the Definition Security drop-down of the Lifecycle Definition dialog to have every file that is using that lifecycle definition have security as an override.
