Override security settings on a file, folder, item, or custom object in Vault.
Override security works differently, depending on whether the Vault object is an item or not.
Files, Folders, and Custom Objects–if object-based security is in effect, the security can be overridden. An override of security means that the object ACL still exists but is being overridden by a newly defined ACL. This is an Override Access Control List or an Override ACL. As long as an override ACL exists, the object ACL is ignored. If the administrator removes the Override ACL then the object ACL becomes the new security.
Items–override security replaces state-based security on items.

You can also access the Details dialog by selecting Details from the File menu.
Deselect the Override Security check box at any time to restore the object-based security on files, folders, and custom objects. Items return to state-based security.
