Return an item to a previous lifecycle state with the Roll Back Lifecycle State Change command.
Note: This feature is available in Vault Professional.
When an item is rolled back, it:
- returns to the item version associated with the rolled-back state.
- returns to the security, lifecycle definition, and revisions scheme associated with the rolled-back state.
- retains any property definitions associated with the current version being rolled back.
The current version of the item is deleted when the item is rolled back to a previous state.
Rules for Rolling Back an Item Lifecycle State
You can roll back an item from any state to another state as long as:
- The rolled back state has not been deleted.
- The current lifecycle state is not <null> and the rolled back state is not <null>.
- The rolled back state is not controlled by purge settings.
- There are no ECO restrictions on state change.
- The rolled back state did not exist before the ECO was created.
- The ECO is not closed.
Note: If the ECO was canceled, you can still roll back to the last state in the ECO.
- There are no component link restrictions.
For example, if rolling back to the previous state would link the item to a component that is only allowed one link and the component is already linked to another item, then the roll back is not permitted.
Only users with Item Editor Level 2, ERP Manager, or Administrator roles can change the state on an item.
