To Migrate Files to Autodesk Docs Using Autodesk DWG Migration for Docs

For prerequisites and other information about using this tool, see About Autodesk DWG Migration for Docs.

  1. Download and install Autodesk DWG Migration for Docs from the Autodesk App Store.
  2. Start Autodesk DWG Migration for Docs by double-clicking on the icon that was placed on your desktop.
  3. Use the Select Data page to select the data to migrate. Specify the Local Data Location by clicking the Browse Folder button and browsing to the folder that contains the files to migrate.

Alternately, you can select Browse Files from the drop-down menu and select files to migrate.

  4. Specify the Target Autodesk Docs Location by clicking the Browse button and specifying a location in an Autodesk Docs project for which you have View, Download and Upload permissions.
  5. Under Data Exclusion, specify any files or file types to exclude and click Apply. You can remove files or file types from the list and click Apply to remove the files from the exclusion.
Note: All dependency files will be uploaded regardless of them being unselected or excluded in the Data Exclusion list.
  6. Under Data Selection, use the tick boxes to select or clear files in the data tree.
  7. Click Next to check the data integrity.

A data integrity check is performed. Any issues that are found are listed in the issues list.

  8. Click on the View Details column to view details about each issue type and to resolve the issues.
  9. Details are displayed about each issue type. For more information about each issue type, see About Autodesk DWG Migration for Docs.
    • To resolve a group of missing files, select the Name tick box, click Resolve and then specify the folder that contains the missing files.

To resolve missing files individually, in the State column, click on the ellipse button next to the warning symbol and click Resolve.

Then browse to the location of the missing file. Other files in the same location will also be resolved if possible.

    • To resolve long file path issues, use Windows Explorer to rename the file or move it to a shorter file path so that the destination path will be shorter than the 244-character limit.

After renaming the file, you must close the Autodesk DWG Migration for Docs application and restart it to consume the change.

    • To view and resolve circular references, click on the filename to view a reference relationship map. These maps show you where there are circular Xrefs and data shortcut references (DREFs). Circular references must be resolved manually by opening the affected drawings and updating the references. You can optionally exclude the files that contain circular references from the upload or you can choose to upload them anyway.
    • Unsupported files will not be uploaded. These issue types are informational only.
  10. After resolving any issues that the tool has identified, click Next to review the list of files that will be uploaded.
Note: You can click Export to export CSV files of the issues that were identified.
  11. If there is an existing file with the same filename in the Autodesk Docs location, you can select the Overwrite tick box to overwrite the existing file. If you choose not to overwrite the file, the file will be skipped from the upload.
  12. Click Start Uploading to start uploading the files to Autodesk Docs.
  13. When the migration task has completed, a summary page shows the status of the files.
  14. Click Close to end the migration task.

A view of the files in Autodesk Docs is shown on the home page of the Autodesk DWG Migration for Docs application so you can further review the uploading results.
