To Transparently Use an Alignment and Surface to Specify a Point Location

You can specify the X and Y coordinates for a point by identifying a chainage along an alignment and location on a surface. Define profile layout elements by specifying a chainage and level based on plan view objects.

Level data can be derived from finished surfaces such as corridors and grading or from an existing surface.

1. When you are prompted to enter a point in a command, do one of the following:
   • Click Transparent tab Profile panel Profile Station and Elevation From Plan Find.
   • Right-click to display the Transparent Commands context menu Chainage/Level From Plan.
   • Activate the transparent command toolbar and select Profile Chainage and Level From Plan .
   • Enter 'sse.
2. In plan view, select the parent alignment of the profile view.
3. Select the surface from which you want to derive level data.
4. Select a point on the surface.
5. Select the profile view again.
6. Do one of the following:
   • Select additional locations on the surface to create additional points with the corresponding alignment chainage and level values.
   • Press Esc to end the transparent command.
