To Transparently Use a Chainage and Offset to Specify a Point Location

You can specify a point location using a chainage and an offset along an alignment.

An alignment must exist in the current drawing, and the specified chainage value must fall within the extents of the alignment.

  1. When you are prompted to enter a point in a command, do one of the following:
    • Click Transparent tab Plan panel Station Offset Find.
    • Right-click to display the Transparent Commands context menu Chainage Offset.
    • Activate the transparent command toolbar and select Chainage Offset .
    • Enter 'so.
  2. Select the alignment from which you want to offset values.

The Chainage Offset contextual ribbon tab is displayed.

  3. Specify a chainage by either entering a chainage value in the ribbon or on the command line, or by clicking in the drawing.
Tip: You can lock the chainage value by clicking the lock icon next to the Chainage field in the ribbon or by using the lock option at the command line. Locking the value allows you to repeatedly use the same chainage value without being prompted for a value.
  4. Specify an offset distance by either entering an offset value in the ribbon or on the command line, or by clicking in the drawing.
Tip: You can lock the offset value by clicking the lock icon next to the Offset field in the ribbon or by using the lock option at the command line. Locking the value allows you to repeatedly use the same offset value without being prompted for a value.

The coordinates of the point are calculated.

  5. If you are prompted, enter a level. For more information, see To Enter a Level for a Transparent Command.
Note: Level prompting for transparent commands is controlled by the Transparent Command setting Prompt For 3D Points. For more information, see About Transparent Command Settings.
  6. Continue to select points by specifying chainages and offsets, or select a different alignment from the Alignment drop-down list.
  7. Press Esc or click Close on the Chainage Offset contextual tab to end the transparent command.
