Query Builder Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to set up a query for a settings template. The query specifies what data should have the settings applied to it.

You can access this dialog box from the Settings Editor dialog box when you are setting up a settings template.

When you are setting up a settings template for stylizing data that you import from ArcGIS, use a query to determine which data on the layer to apply the settings to. For example, for a layer that contains pipe data, you can set up one query so that pipe data with a specific material will be stylised one way, and another query so that pipe data with a different material will be stylised another way.

Tip: When setting up a query for a settings template for a certain type of object, such as gravity pipes, it is helpful to have chosen to create that type of object from the data source you selected in the Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS. For example, it is helpful to have specified that gravity pipes will be created from a layer if you are setting up gravity pipe settings because certain fields in the Query Builder dialog box such as the Property Source field and the Property list will be pre-populated with data that you can select from. However, the Value that you need to specify will require you to have access to and review the ArcGIS dataset, which you can view in your Content location in ArcGIS after you sign in.

As you set up the components of the query, the query syntax is shown in the field at the bottom of the dialog box.

Add
Adds a row to the Query Builder so that you can set up a query.
Delete
Deletes the currently selected query row. Tick the box next to a row to enable the Delete button.
Property Source
Specifies the ArcGIS layer from which you want to pre-populate the Property drop-down list in the Query Builder.
Important: The Property Source list is empty if you have not specified that a layer in the Autodesk Connector for ArcGIS will create the object type that you are specifying settings for. For example, if you have chosen to create gravity pipes in the drawing from the ArcGIS data, the Property Source drop-down will be populated with the source layer when the Query Builder is accessed from the Gravity Pipes tab of the Settings Editor dialog box. The list will be empty when the Query Builder is accessed from the Gravity Pipes tab if you have not chosen to create gravity pipe data from the selected layers.

Query Table Columns

Tick Box
Selects a row. Tick the box next to a row to enable the Delete button.
Set Operator
Specifies how the second or following query rows are to be applied. Specify AND, OR or NOT. This setting is not available for the first query row.
Property
Specifies the property in the data to which the query is to be applied. This list is pre-populated based on the Property Source specified.
Operator
Specifies what the property value's requirement is, such as equals (=). For example, if the Property selected is Material, you can select equals (=) here and then specify a Value that the material must equal.
  • = (equal to)
  • > (greater than)
  • < (less than)
  • <= (less than or equal to)
  • >= (greater than or equal to)
  • <> (does not equal)
Value
Specifies the value of the property to be used in the query. This list is not pre-populated. You can view the data source in ArcGIS to obtain these values. For example, if you are setting up a query for gravity pipes, and you are using a pipe layer in ArcGIS Online that has a material property, you can enter the pipe material type in the Value column.
