Edit Feature Settings – Intersection Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to view and change junction-specific settings.

This topic documents settings in all junction-related Edit Settings dialog boxes (drawing-level, feature-level, and command-level).

For information about drawing-level ambient settings, see Ambient Settings Tab (Drawing Settings Dialog Box).

Assembly Insertion Defaults

Note: This property group is displayed when accessing the settings from the CreateJunction command.

Use these settings to specify the defaults assigned during junction object creation.

Frequency Along Straights

Specifies the frequency to insert assemblies along straight segments of the junction area corridor baseline.

Frequency Along Curves

Specifies the frequency to insert assemblies along curved segments of the junction area corridor baseline.

Frequency Along Transitions

Specifies the frequency to insert assemblies along transition segments of the junction area corridor baseline.

Horizontal Geometry Points

Specifies whether to add assemblies at horizontal geometry points of the corridor baselines in the junction area.

Superelevation Critical Points

Specifies whether to add assemblies at superelevation critical points of the corridor baselines in the intersection area.

Profile Geometry Points

Specifies whether to add assemblies at profile geometry points of the corridor baselines in the intersection area.

Profile High Low Points

Specifies whether to add assemblies to the highest and lowest points of the profile to define junction corridor.

Frequency Along Profile Curves

Specifies the frequency that junction object assemblies are inserted along curved segments of the profile.

Junction Options

Note: This property group is displayed when accessing the settings from the CreateJunction command.

Use these settings to specify the default styles assigned to junction creation.

Junction Type

Specifies the corridor gradient option for the corridors created in the junction area. Primary Road Crown Maintained: When this option is selected, the primary road crown is maintained through the junction. All Crowns Maintained: When this option is selected, the crowns of both roads included in the junction are maintained through the junction.

Default Exit and Merging Length - Primary Road

Specifies the junction extents along the primary road as it enters and exits the junction. If the corner radius are defined, then this parameter is not used, and instead the extents are calculated by the corner radius extents on either side of junction.

Default Exit and Merging Length - Side Road

Specifies the junction extents of the side road as it enters and exits the junction. If the corner radius are defined, then this parameter is not used, and instead the extents are calculated by the corner radius extents on either side of junction.

Create Corner Radius Alignments

Specifies whether to create corner radius alignments.

Create Corner Radius Profiles

Specifies whether to create corner radius profiles.

Create Junction Corridors

Specifies whether to create junction corridors.

Default Offsets

Note: This property group is displayed when accessing the settings from the CreateJunction command.

Use these settings to specify the default styles assigned to junction creation.

Primary Road - Left Offset

Specifies the offset distance from the centerline on the left side of the primary road.

Primary Road - Right Offset

Specifies the offset distance from the centerline on the right side of the primary road.

Side Road - Left Offset

Specifies the offset distance from the centerline on the left side of the side road.

Side Road - Right Offset

Specifies the offset distance from the centerline on the right side of the side road.

Offset Length Options

Specifies how the length of the offset alignment is determined. When To Junction Extents is selected, offset alignments are extended to the length of the extent of the junction object. When Alignment Start To End is selected, offset alignments are created the length of the parent alignment.

Default Crossfalls

Note: This property group is displayed when accessing the settings from the CreateJunction command.

Use these settings to specify the default styles assigned to junction creation.

Primary Road - Left Crossfall

Specifies the crossfall of the left side of the primary road.

Primary Road - Right Crossfall

Specifies the crossfall of the right side of the primary road.

Side Road - Left Crossfall

Specifies the crossfall of the left side of the side road.

Side Road - Right Crossfall

Specifies the crossfall of the right side of the side road.

Corner Radius Parameters

Note: This property group is displayed when accessing the settings from the CreateJunction command.

Use these settings to specify the default styles assigned to junction creation.

Corner Radius Type

Specifies the type of corner radius used for the junction: Chamfer, Circular Fillet, or 3-Centered Arcs.

Circular Fillet Radius

When Circular Fillet is selected as the corner radius type, this option lets you specify the radius for the circular fillet on the corner radius.

Radius of Curve (X)

When 3-Centered Arcs is selected as the corner radius type, this option lets you specify the radius for each of the three curves on the corner radius.

Length of Curve (X)

When 3-Centered Arcs is selected as the corner radius type, this option lets you specify the length for the first and third curves on the corner radius.

Chamfer Fillet Length - Along Incoming\Outgoing Lane

When Chamfer is selected as the corner radius type, this option lets you specify the length of the corner radius’s chamfer fillet along the incoming or outgoing lane.

Default Widening Parameters

Note: This property group is displayed when accessing the settings from the CreateJunction command.

Use these settings to specify the default styles assigned to junction creation.

Widening At Incoming Lane

Specifies whether to widen the incoming lane as it enters the junction.

Widening At Outgoing Lane

Specifies whether to widen the outgoing lane as it exits the junction.

Widened Offset

Specifies the offset distance applied to the widened regions, at both the entrance to the junction, and as it exits the junction.

Widening Segment Length

Specifies the length of the widened portion of the corner radius at both the entrance to the junction, and as it exits the junction.

Transition Type

Specifies the type of transition used for the widening: Linear, Curve-Line-Curve, Curve-Curve -Reverse Curve, or Curve - Reverse Curve.

Linear Transition Type

When Linear is selected as the Transition Type, this option lets you specify the type of linear transition used for the widening: By Length or By Taper Ratio.

Transition Length

When By Length is selected as the Linear Transition Type, this option lets you specify the length of the transition for the widening.

Taper Ratio

When By Taper Ratio is selected as the Linear Transition Type, this option lets you specify the ratio of the tapering for the widening.

Radius of Curve X

When a curve option is selected as the Transition Type, this option lets you specify the radius for the first and second curves used in the widening.

Radius of Reverse Curve

When Curve-Curve - Reverse Curve is selected as the Transition Type, this option lets you specify the radius for the first and second curves used in the widening.

Secondary Road Profile Rules

Note: This property group is displayed when accessing the settings from the CreateJunction command.

Use these settings to specify the default styles assigned to junction creation.

Apply Gradient Rules

Specifies whether to apply gradient rules.

Maximum Gradient

Specifies the maximum gradient that can be used in the profile for the side road.

Maximum Gradient Change

Specifies the maximum gradient change that can be used in the profile for the side road.

Distance Rule to Adjust the Gradient

Specifies the method that is used to adjust the gradient of the side road profile. When To Junction Extents is selected, the gradient of the side road profile is adjusted to within the extents of the junction object. When Specify Distance is used, the gradient of the side road profile is adjusted by the value that is entered in the Distance Value.

Distance Value

Specifies the distance that is used to adjust the incoming and outgoing gradient along the side road profile when Specify Distance is selected for Distance Rule to Adjust the Gradient.

Corner Radius Profile Rules

Use these settings to specify the default styles assigned to junction creation.

Define Corner Radius Profile By

Specifies the method that is used to define the corner radius profile.

Extend Profile Along Incoming Lane

Specifies whether to extend the corner radius profile along the incoming lane of the junction.

Length To Extend Along Incoming Lane

When Extend Profile Along Incoming Lane is set to Yes, this option lets you specify the length to extend the corner radius profile along the incoming lane of the junction.

Extend Profile Along Outgoing Lane

Specifies whether to extend the corner radius profile along the outgoing lane of the junction.

Length To Extend Along Outgoing Lane

When Extend Profile Along Incoming Lane is set to Yes, this option lets you specify the length to extend the corner radius profile along the outgoing lane of the junction.

Default Styles

Use these settings to specify the default styles assigned to junction object components.

Note: The code set style that is specified in the feature-level corridor feature settings is used for corridors that are created while creating intersections. The code set style specified in the CreateCorridor command settings is not used for intersection corridors.
Junction Style

Specifies the default style for junctions. Click in the Value column, and click to select a style in the Junction Style dialog box.

Junction Label Style

Specifies the default style for junction object labels. Click in the Value column, and click to select a label style. Note that there is no placement option available for a junction label. The label is always placed at the junction point. If that point is already labeled, then a second label is placed on top of the existing label.

Offset Alignment Style

Specifies the default style for offset alignments. Click in the Value column, and click to select a style in the Offset Alignment Style dialog box.

Corner Radius Alignment Style

Specifies the default style for corner radius alignments. Click in the Value column, and click to select a style in the Corner Radius Alignment Style dialog box.

Offset Profile Style

Specifies the default style for offset profiles. Click in the Value column, and click to select a style in the Offset Profile Style dialog box.

Corner Radius Profile Style

Specifies the default style for corner radius profiles. Click in the Value column, and click to select a style in the Corner Radius Profile Style dialog box.

Offset Alignment Label Set

Specifies the default style for offset alignment label sets. Click in the Value column, and click to select a style in the Offset Alignment Label Set dialog box.

Corner Radius Alignment Label Set

Specifies the default style for corner radius alignment label sets. Click in the Value column, and click to select a style in the Corner Radius Alignment Label Set dialog box.

Default Name Format

Use these settings to specify the default name templates used for the following components associated with a junction object:

  • junction object
  • junction quadrant
  • offset alignment
  • corner radius alignment
  • offset profile
  • corner radius profile
  • corridor region

Click in the Value column, and click to select a style in the Name Template dialog box.
