To Create a Window Style

Use this procedure to create a window style.

You can create a new style with default style properties, or you can create a new style by copying an existing style. After you create the style, you edit the style properties to customize the characteristics of the style.

  1. Click Manage tabStyle & Display panelStyle Manager.
  2. Expand Architectural Objects, and expand Window Styles.
  3. Create a window style:
    If you want to create a new style… Then…
    with default properties right-click Window Styles, and click New.
    from an existing style right-click the window style you want to copy, and click Copy. Right-click, and click Paste.
  4. Enter a name for the new window style, and press Enter.
  5. Edit the style properties of your new window style:
    If you want to… Then…
    enter a description of the style click the General tab, and enter a description.

    assign materials to the components of the window style, see To Assign Materials to a Window Style and To Turn on Materials for a Window Style.
    add classifications to a window style see To Add Classifications to a Window Style.
    specify the display properties of the style see About Specifying the Display Properties of a Window Style.
    change the appearance of the display components in the style see To Change the Layer, Color, and Linetype of Window Components.
    add custom block components to the style see To Add Components to a Window Style.
    turn off components in the style see To Turn Off Components in a Window Style.
    remove components from the style see To Remove Components From a Window Style.
    override the opening percentage from the style see To Specify the Opening Percentage for a Window Style.
    change the sill from the style see To Specify the Display of Window Sills in a Window Style.
    add muntins to the style see About Creating Muntins in a Window Style.
    add notes, files, or documents to the style see To Attach Notes and Files to a Window Style.
  6. If you want to assign the style to a window tool, drag the style from the Style Manager to a tool palette.

    You can later rename the tool and specify other properties for it as described in Creating a Window Tool.

  7. Click OK.
