How to use the Electrical Audit error report, find and fix wire-related problems, and clean drawings.

Electrical Audit Error Report

  1. Click Reports tabSchematic panelElectrical Audit. Find
  2. Click Details to view the detected problems.
    Note: If no errors are found, the Details button is not enabled.
  3. (Optional) Click Active Drawing to view the detected problems for the active drawing only.
  4. Click any of the tabs highlighted with an error icon.
  5. To go to the component or wire and correct an error:
    • Select an audit record and click Go To (or double-click the audit record).
    • Fix the error using any of the editing tools.
      Note: Once you browse to an error location an "x" appears in the left column of the dialog.
  6. To hide errors you do not need to correct:
    • Select the errors using Shift, Ctrl, or a window to select multiple rows.
    • Click Mark as Ignored.
    • Check Hide Ignored Issues.
  7. To output the report to a text file do one of the following:
    • Click Export Tab to output just the records on the current tab.
    • Click Export All to output the entire report.
Note: Run the Drawing audit tool to perform wire-related clean-up functions automatically.

Wire and Wire Number Cleanup

  1. Click Reports tabSchematic panelDrawing Audit. Find
  2. Select to process the project or active drawing.
  3. Check which wire-related errors you want to have the program look for and fix.
  4. Use the report to surf to remaining errors.

Check/Repair Wire Gaps

  1. Click Schematic tabEdit Wires/Wire Numbers panelModify Wire Gap drop-downCheck/Repair Gap Pointers. Find
  2. Select each wire segment as directed.

    Gap data is added as needed. The result of the check/repair is shown in the command prompt area.

Check/Trace a Wire

Troubleshoot problems with unconnected or shorted wires and invalid wire crossing gap pointers.

  1. Click Schematic tabEdit Wires/Wire Numbers panelModify Wires drop-downCheck/Trace Wire. Find
  2. Select a wire on the network. You can select "A" to show All Segments. If you prefer to step through wire by wire, press the spacebar.
  3. Press:
    • A. Shows all wires in the wire network
    • Space. Shows one wire segment at a time in the wire network.

      The connected wire segments endpoints are shown in the command prompt area.

  4. Redraw to erase any temporary graphics.

Clean the Drawings

Cleaning the drawings creates drawings by copying the objects from your existing drawings to new blank drawings.

  1. Click Project tabTroubleshooting panelClean DWG Utility. Find
  2. Select what to process:
    • Active Project. You can process all drawings in the project or select which drawings within the project.
    • Browse to Folder. All drawings in the selected folder are processed.
    • Single Drawing. Only the selected drawing is processed.
  3. (Optional) Click Purge All to run the PURGE command and purge all unused items (such as block definitions, dimension styles, layers, linetypes, and text styles).
  4. Click OK.
  5. Select the drawings or folder as prompted.

    New, clean copies of the drawings are created and an alert displays indicating the folder where you can find the new drawings.
