This section describes two different methods used by Helius PFA to decompose composite average stress and strain states into constituent average stress and strain states.
The first method is the analytical form for binary decomposition which is used for unidirectional, continuous-fiber-reinforced composites. The second method is the numerical form for binary decomposition which is used for all woven composites, braided composites, and any complex composite material composed of three or more constituent materials.
