Cross Pin Generator dialog box - Design tab

Sets parameters for design of a cross pin.

Note: To insert cross pin using Cross Pin Generator, your assembly must contain components with geometry suitable for cross pin placement.

You must be connected to Content Center server and Content Center must be configured on your computers to insert components using Cross Pin Generator. If you are not connected to the Content Center, the Items area on the right side of the Design tab is grayed out.

Access:

Placement

Specifies placement of the cross pin.

For a cross pin, there are 2 possible placement selections:

  • Start Plane - selects a start plane or face to place the hole.
  • Existing Hole - selects an existing hole.

Pin

Specify the pin diameter.

Items

Designs cross pin connections.

First, the placement selection must be done. According to the selected placement options the generator chooses the number of holes or offers to select additional holes or add virtual holes. To begin populating the cross pin connection, you must first follow the instructions provided under the Items list "Click to select pin." Click this area of the selection list to access a filtered list of available pin content (from Content Center) based upon previously set Hole Diameter settings.

Each of the components is editable:

Custom Properties

Displays the Custom Properties dialog box where you can change part parameters (length of cross pin, cross pin diameter, and so on).

Delete

Deletes the component.

Change Content

Displays a dialog box where you can select from filtered Content Center items.

Summary of Messages

Displays the reports about calculation. To open the Summary of Messages area at the bottom of the Calculation and Design tabs, double-click the double line at the bottom of tabs, or click the chevron at the bottom of the tabs.

Graphical Preview

According to the selected geometry the graphical preview is presented in the Autodesk Inventor. You can use grips to specify pin length, for example.
