To Determine if a Coordinate System is Geodetic

Some coordinate systems specify only the ellipsoid; these are non-geodetic. Coordinate systems that specify the complete datum are geodetic.

To determine if a coordinate system is geodetic

1. Click Map Setup tabCoordinate System panelLibrary.
2. In the Coordinate System Library, find the coordinate system in the list.

   The Definition Type column indicates whether a coordinate system is geodetic (G) or projected (P). Coordinate systems that are referenced to ellipsoids are non-geodetic.
