Bring a
Revit model into
InfraWorks as a file data source.
- In
InfraWorks, click the Manage Tab
Data Sources.
- On the Data Sources panel, do the following:
- Click
(Add File Data Source).
- Click Autodesk Revit.
- Open the
Revit model file.
- If prompted, in the Data Import dialog, click Send.
When the model is finished processing, it displays under Buildings in the data sources list.
Note: Alternatively, you can also drag and drop the .rvt file directly onto the
InfraWorks model to import the file as a data source.
- Double-click the new data source to configure it.
The Data Source Configuration dialog displays the
Revit model name, the source of the data as 3D Model, and the Type as Buildings.
- On the
Data Source Configuration dialog, Click Interactive Placing to load the geometry into the
InfraWorks model.
Position the model as close as posible to the final poistion in theInfraWorks model.
- Make minor adjustments tot he position of the model. Modify the placement of the model using one of the following methods:
- On the Geo Location tab of the Data Source Configuration dialog, add X, Y, or Z Offsets.
- On the Geo Location tab of the Data Source Configuration dialog, click Interactive Placing to position the data in the model using the mouse.
- Select the model, right-click, and click Edit to manually manipulate the position of the model.
- If changes are made to the model in
Revit, save the model in the original location, and in
InfraWorks, right-click the model name in the Data Sources panel, and click Reimport.
The model geometry is updated in the
InfraWorks model.

Tip: In
InfraWorks, turn backfaces on/off to control the view through walls and windows when navigating inside the
Revit model. It can also be helpful to specify bookmarks to preferred vew locations instead of having to pan, orbit, or zoom to the model location in
InfraWorks.
