mesh_BLSimplex

Summary: Enable the use of Simplex (tetrahedral elements) in the boundary layer mesh. This is required for the CFD2 solver.

Flag:

mesh_BLSimplex A

A = 0: Do not use Simplex within the boundary layer mesh. Use prismatic elements instead.

A = 1: Enable the use of Simplex elements within the boundary layer.

Description

By default, elements in the boundary layer mesh are prismatic (wedge) elements. Set this flag to 1 to force these elements to be divided into tetrahedral elements. This is primarily used with the CFD2 solver, which does not support prismatic elements in CFD 2016.

To run CFD2, you must configure the solver as described in the CFD2 topic.

• Additionally, you must assign a value of 1 for this flag.
• Assign a non-zero value to dump_cfd2_file.
• Set Split_Energy to 1 for a flow and thermal simulation that contains fluid and solid elements.
