Parameters of a structure seismic analysis depend on a seismic code used during calculations of a structure influenced by seismic loads. Select Canadian seismic code NBC 1995 in the New Case Definition dialog or click Parameters in the Analysis Type dialog.
To complete the seismic analysis according to the rules given in a code, define the following parameters:
- Importance factors
- Parameters Za and Zv (see table 2 of the code)
- Coefficients: v and F (see tables 1 and 3 of the codes).
Horizontal base shear:
V = (Ve / R) * U,
where:
Ve - Equivalent lateral force at the base of the structure
R - Force modification factor (see table 1 of the code)
U - Factor representing the level of protection (based on experience) = 0.6.
In the lower part of the dialog, the Direction definition and Filters buttons are located.
