There must be no gaps between the surfaces. A 3D solid object is created.
Troubleshooting
In some cases, an error message results when you try to convert surfaces and meshes to a 3D solid. The following suggestions may be able to resolve the issue:
Surfaces might not completely enclose a volume. If you extend the enclosing surfaces through and past the other surfaces, this can reduce the chance of a small gap.
Meshes edited using gizmos can sometimes have gaps between the faces. In some cases, you can close these gaps by first smoothing the mesh object.
If you have modified a mesh object so that one or more faces intersect faces in the same object, you cannot convert it to a 3D solid.
