Multiple Dimensioning Dialog Box (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

Use this dialog box to specify dimension creation options during an AMAUTODIM command session.

Parallel tab
 

Type

Sets the type of parallel dimension to Baseline or Chain.

 

Alignment

Aligns dimensions from either side of the baseline, such that they are on the same line.

   

Inside Out

Aligns dimensions, beginning from the points closest to the baseline to the furthest.

   

Outside In

Aligns dimensions, beginning from the points furthest to the baseline to the closest.

 

Both axes

Draws dimensions for both axes. Clear this option to draw a 1-axis dimension. A graphical representation of the dimension type selected appears in the preview section of this tab.

 

Center text

Aligns the dimension text such that it is centered about the center cross.

 

Display dimension text editor for every dimension

Displays the in-place dimension text editor or the Power Dimensioning dialog box (if the Ribbon is turned off or the AMPOWERDIMEDITOR system variable is set to 0) each time you place a dimension.

 

Rearrange into a New Style

Changes the style of existing dimensions to Parallel style, for example, from chain to baseline dimension.

 

Select Additional Contour

Dimensions additional contour and rearranges existing dimensions into any type of Parallel style.

Ordinate tab

 

Type

Sets the type of ordinate dimension to Current Standard (for example, ISO), to Equal Leader Length, or to Center Cross on Edge.

 

Both axes

Draws dimensions for both axes. Clear this option to draw a 1-axis dimension. A graphical representation of the dimension type selected appears in the preview section of this tab.

 

Center text

Aligns the dimension text such that it is centered about the center cross. This option is visible only if the type of ordinate dimension is set to Center Cross on Edge.

 

Rotate text

Rotates dimension text.

 

Short dimension lines

Shows only a small segment of the dimension line adjacent to the arrowhead. This option is visible only if the type of ordinate dimension is set to the current standard.

Note:

This option is not available for the ANSI standard.

 

Display Power Dimensioning Dialog

Displays the Power Dimensioning dialog box each time you place a dimension.

 

Rearrange into a New Style

Changes the style of existing dimensions to Ordinate style (for example, from 1-axis chain dimension to 2-axes ordinate dimension).

 

Select Additional Contour

Dimensions additional contour and rearranges existing dimensions into any type of Ordinate style.

Shaft/Symmetric tab

 

Type

Sets the type of dimension to Shaft (Front View), Shaft (Side View), or Symmetric. A graphical representation of the dimension type selected appears in the preview section of this tab.

Half Shaft

Draws one extension line only for every dimension.

 

Place Dimension Inside Contour

Draws dimensions inside contours. Clear this option to draw dimensions outside contours.

 

Display Power Dimensioning Dialog

Displays the Power Dimensioning dialog box each time you place a dimension.

 

Rearrange into a New Style

Changes the style of existing dimensions into Shaft/Symm style.

 

Select Additional Contour

Dimensions additional contour and rearranges existing dimensions into any type of Shaft/Symm style.
