The Hide command searches for an appropriate foreground type and then sets the corresponding options.
List of Items Displays a list of hide situation that the selected object is part of. |
Text at top of dialog box Provides a description of the items selected for the foreground. The possible values are: |
Normal Foreground Contains only simple curve objects, no blocks. The program can use curve objects directly as contour, and the Contour Finder can use them to determine an appropriate contour. With this option, the Contour Finder cannot define inner contours as islands. Usually, the Contour Finder is not used and no type is indicated. If you use the Contour Finder, the indicated type is “Outline, no holes possible”. |
Block Foreground Contains a single block. The program can use objects in the block directly or with the Contour Finder. The Contour Finder enables you to define points for which the enclosing contour defines islands in the foreground area. |
Predefined Foreground Contains a standard part (or a user-defined part) with a predefined contour. |
Programmatically Defined Foreground Some Power Objects define their own method for calculating the contour. We do not recommend changing the selection. The program supplies the type. |
Empty Foreground The current foreground selection is empty. The program performs no changes and stores nothing. |
Mixed Foreground Contains more than one foreground type. The options are the same as for Normal Foreground. |
Foreground Tab |
Find outer contour Ignores holes and islands on the foreground selection. If this is not selected, considers islands within the outermost contour to be holes through which the background is visible. |
Use Elements on Contour Layers only To enhance the foreground selection, you can use a filter to exclude some selected objects from being used as contours. Configure the filter to allow only objects having the AutoCAD Mechanical toolset contour property or non-AutoCAD Mechanical toolset contour objects to pass. |
Background Tab |
Select/View Highlights and edits the selection of the background objects. The dialog box closes temporarily and the drawing highlights the current selection set. Using the AutoCAD object selection command, you can add objects to or remove objects from the background selection. |
Name Assigns a name to the applied calculation operation. This approach can be helpful for later editing. Used when you select the Store Settings for Reevaluation option on the Settings tab. |
Automatic Background Selection Automatically determines the objects to be used for the background after you select the desired foreground. The program excludes objects in the foreground of the currently selected foreground objects from the selection. |
Edit Elements on Appropriate Layers Only Activates the object filter. |
Representation on Hidden Objects |
Invisible on Layer AM_9 Places objects that are concealed by the foreground on this special layer, which is invisible, usually, because layer AM_9 is switched off. |
Dashed Displays hidden lines as defined in the drawing standard for hidden lines. By default, this representation is a magenta-colored, dashed line. |
Invisible, Deleted Deletes hidden objects. The program cannot restore these objects. |
Broken at All Intersections Break objects at all intersections with the foreground object. |
Settings Tab |
Store Settings for Re-evaluation Stores the settings for later reevaluation of the hidden objects. |
Update Display Now Updates the display immediately. |
Foreground entities cannot be selected during background selection Locks the foreground elements during background selection. |
