Taper and Slope Symbol Dialog Box (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

Use the Taper and Slope Symbol dialog box to set up the requirements of the symbol you are inserting.

Note:

Some buttons on this dialog box are named only in tooltips. Move the pointer over such buttons to obtain their names.

Revision

Displays the name and revision of the drafting standard the symbol is based on.

Symbol tab

Contains options to set up the graphical representation of the symbol, orientation, and textual content.

Options

   

Theoretically exact value

Draws a box around the dimension value to indicate that it is theoretically exact dimension. The preview to the left of the check box changes depending on your selection.

 

Requirements

   

Insert symbol

Displays a palette to enable you to insert a special character (for example, the degree symbol) at the current cursor position.

 

Symbol type

Displays a palette containing various taper and slope symbol representations, which enables you to change the symbol representation and its orientation.

   

Dimension

Provides a space to specify the slope/taper rate manually. In the drawing area, this text appears next to the symbol. The drop-down arrow displays a list that contains the calculated value for the slope/taper rate expressed in different formats.

Calculated values are available only while creating a symbol and if you selected the calculation option at the command prompt. Calculated values are not available when editing an existing symbol.

 

Clear

Resets all values within the Options and Requirements section to their default values.

Leader and Text Tab

Sets the leader line options of the symbol.

 

Arrowhead

Specifies the type of the leader arrowhead. When the arrowhead is set to By Standard, it acquires the arrowhead from the current drafting standard. Thereafter, if you change the arrowhead selected for the current drafting standard (in the Standard Settings dialog box or Taper and Slope Settings dialog box.) the arrowhead for this symbol updates automatically.

  Edit object attachment
   

Attach

Temporarily hides the dialog box enabling you to select an object to attach the symbol to. This button is visible only if the symbol is not attached to an object.

   

Detach

Detaches the symbol and makes it a free-standing object. This button is visible only if the symbol is attached to an object.

 

Reference line angle

   

Adjust

Temporarily hides the dialog box so you can change the alignment of the reference line.

Settings

Displays the Taper and Slope Symbol Settings dialog box enabling you to configure the defaults for Taper and Slope symbols.
