Balloon Dialog Box (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

Use this dialog box to manage the appearance of the balloon or balloon collection you selected for editing.

Toolbar buttons

 

Collects other balloons on the leader of the balloon you are editing. The dialog box temporarily hides to enable you select balloons to collect. Collected balloons are added to the Balloon contents list.

 

Deletes the balloon selected in the Balloon contents list. This button is available only if there is more than one balloon in the Balloon contents list.

 

Detaches the balloon from the object it is attached to. This button is visible only if the balloon is attached to an object.

 

Attaches the balloon to an object in the drawing area. The dialog box temporarily hides and all objects that you can be attached to are highlighted in the drawing area. This button is visible only when the balloon is not attached to anything.

 

Adds a leader or leader segment to the balloon. The dialog box temporarily hides, enabling you to select the attach point. To add a new leader, the last selected point must be on the original balloon leader. To add new leader segments, the last selected point must be the start point of the original leader.

 

Deletes a leader or leader segment. The dialog box temporarily hides, enabling you to select the leader to delete.

If you select an internal leader segment, this operation deletes all its successors. If you remove all leader segments, the balloon converts to a stand-alone balloon.

 

Displays the Sort dialog box, which provides various options to sort the balloons displayed in the Balloon contents list.

 

Removes overrides from the current selection and restores their default values. This button is available only when overrides exist within the current selection.

 

Sets the values for a range of cells in a column. Changes you make are written to the corresponding BOM.

Layout settings

 

Balloon style

Enables you to select between standard-based balloons or a block that can be used as a custom balloon. If the block is in an external file, click the Browse option at the bottom of the list.

 

Balloon type

Displays a panel from which you can select a standard compliant shape for the balloon. This option is available only for standard-based balloons.

 

Arrowhead

Displays a palette containing standard-compliant arrows for leader termination.

 

Collection orientation

Defines how balloon collections line up. This option is available only if you have collected more than one balloon on the leader of the balloon being edited.

 

Leader Connection

Defines where on a custom balloon the leader connects to it. This option is not available if the current balloon style is a standard based balloon.

Balloon contents

Displays the properties of the ballooned item. The columns are the same as the columns in the BOM.

Settings

Displays the Balloon Settings dialog box, enabling you to change the default settings for balloons.
