Use the Point Load dialog box to define a point force acting on a shaft.
Dynamic Load Specifies that the load varies within known limits. |
Resultant tab Specifies the properties of the load considering the load as a single vector. |
Point Load |
F Specifies the magnitude of the point load. If Dynamic Load is selected, this box splits into two to enable you to specify the minimum and maximum loads separately. |
Angle Specifies the direction of the load. |
Alpha Specifies the direction of the load relative to the x axis (centerline of the shaft) (see thumbnail displayed inside the dialog box). |
Beta Specifies the direction of the load relative to the radial direction at the point of application (see thumbnail displayed inside the dialog box). |
Gamma Specifies the angle between the z axis and the radius drawn to the point of application (see thumbnail displayed inside the dialog box). |
Radius Specifies the radius of the shaft at the position the load is applied. |
Components tab Specifies the properties of the load by resolving the load into components in the x, y and z directions. |
Components of Point Load |
Fx Specifies the magnitude of the load in the x direction. If Dynamic Load is selected, this box splits into two to enable you to specify the minimum and maximum loads separately. |
Fy Specifies the magnitude of the load in the y direction. If Dynamic Load is selected, this box splits into two to enable you to specify the minimum and maximum loads separately. |
Fz Specifies the magnitude of the load in the z direction. If Dynamic Load is selected, this box splits into two to enable you to specify the minimum and maximum loads separately. |
Components of Angle Gamma |
hz Specifies the distance to the point of application along the z axis (see thumbnail displayed inside the dialog box). |
hy Specifies the distance to the point of application along the y axis (see thumbnail displayed inside the dialog box). |
Thumbnail Displays a thumbnail of the point load applied to the shaft. |
Help Displays a thumbnail of an example, which illustrates the properties to specify. |
Current Situation Displays a preview of the point load you applied. |
