Specifies the shape and size of the runners and the position of the cold slug.
- Access
- On the Mold Layout tab, click Runner .
Note: If Runner is not visible in the Mold Layout tab, click the arrow under Secondary Sprue, and then click Runner.
- Path
- In the graphics window, select a sketch line as a runner path. You can select a manual sketch or an auto-sketch.
- Section Type

- Select a runner type from the drop-down list and preview an image of the runner cross section. Modify the dimensions in the preview fields.
- Core Side
- Select a core side option to create the runner entity in the negative Z axis direction.
- Cavity Side
- Select a cavity side option to create the runner entity in the positive Z axis direction.
- Parameters
- Specifies the cross section dimensions for the runner. Controls the calculated value displayed in Equivalent Diameter.
- Runner segment table

- Click the Cold Slug Length table cell of a runner segment, and enter a value to modify the length.
- Click the Cold Slug Position table cell of a runner segment, and then select an option from the drop-down list to modify the position.
- Change a runner parameter dimension to update the calculated value in the Equivalent Diameter cell.
Note: The default position for a cold slug is set to Start or End. If the mouse-click position is closer to the sketch line (arc) start point, the cold slug position is set to Start. Otherwise, the cold slug position is set to End.
