Applying text or images as 3D features
Netfabb's labels are sections of triangle mesh generated from text or image. These mesh sections are then merged with the surface of the part to be labeled, which generates a new, labeled part in the buildroom.
In general, labels may be embossed or impressed, and may be mirrored, for applications like printing casts and molds.
More specifically, Netfabb provides four labeling methods:
Text | Simple text labels with with selectable font face. Supports parametric fonts. The font size determines the tessellation resolution. |
Image | Quad-per-pixel relief generation from the grayscale-equivalent brightness information in a bitmap image, with adjustable scaling of the displacement strength in either direction |
Text from list | Text labeling as above combined with definition of a running list, or list loading from CSV file, to generate part duplicates with individual label text each |
Tag | Text labeling as above, but on dynamically generated breakaway tags |
Multiple labels, even multiple labels of different types, may be applied during the same label generation run.
