To label with an image

Use an image source to generate areas with and without embossing or impressing

Note: The embossing or impressing works best when applied to a flat and level surface as it is applied in parallel to the normal of the face in the center of the label. To label curved surfaces like cylinders and other shapes, using extrusion in Texture and color instead may give results closer to the desired outcome.
  1. Select the part to be labeled.
  2. Click Modify > Generate label > Image.
  3. In the context view, click Click to add image. This opens a file browser window.
  4. Browse for an image file and click Open. Supported file types are BMP, PNG, and JPEG.
Tip: Two-tone grayscale, or monochrome, images work best. For color or grayscale images use the Threshold slider to adjust which areas of the image to emboss or impress.
  5. In the 3D view click on the part surface to place the label.
  6. Click Apply to create the text label.
  7. Click Yes to remove the old part or No to keep the old part and the newly labeled part.
